Continuing on their relationship with widely-known and respected design schools, Nachtmann initiated a design competition with New York’s Pratt institute in 2010. The Pratt design student Catherine Merrick, a successful and emerging designer, succeeded in this competition and created the new line QUARTZ. The sparkling surface of the crystalline structure of quartz sand was the inspiration for Catherine Merrick for her new design. The brilliant crystal and the extra-ordinary pattern of the bowl have a wonderful and sparkling light refraction.
